Hi I am looking to have 2 variants either - or, for colors. Example, Core Colors, Limited Edition colors. Buyer can select one from these. Then the Size.
This should be linked to the Inventory, and go through to checkout and order.
Any suggestions? I’ve tried pluggins, modifying the theme etc.. no luck.
I dont think its too complicated a task?
Hi Amit! You can definitely create products with variants and size options, along with pricing to match those choices. It sounds like the standard functionality for variants is not working for you though, based on the things you have tried already.
Can you share some more details about the customer experience and what you want this to look like? Why did the variant options available for products not work for you in this case?
Thank you for your response. What i’m trying to achieve is for a client to select ONE color from either the Core Colors, or Limited Edition colors, and then select a Size. None of the selections will change the price. But these need to be linked to inventory, and then move to checkout and order. For some reason, i have not been able to achieve this. Tried two apps as well. Screenshot attached. ANY help will be a BIG help!!
Thank you for the screenshot @amit210 , that helped. I definitely understand what you are trying to accomplish here. All the color variants have linked inventory, but should be displayed separately so that the customer can clearly see which ones are limited edition colors.
Do you mind letting me know what theme the merchant is using on their store? I’ll look into this and see if I have any possible options to suggest.

Thanks Amit! Looking into this, I do feel it can be done but it would require some custom coding. I am not a developer myself, but I believe the approach would be to adjust the variant picker to break up the product options based on variant title or ID. Creating colors that use titles like “limited-edition-blue” and “standard-blue” in the metafield options can then be used as the separator for a custom variant picker.
This would require someone knowledgeable in Shopify theme coding to assist in creating this. We do have developers and partners in the community that are happy to help with job requests of this nature. Doing a search for “variant picker” in the community will let you see some partners comfortable in this kind of work.
