How can I make it where someone receives a discount for sharing my clothing brand with someone else? Like I want to create an affiliate link that when someone shares to their friend and that friend clicks on that link they would receive a 10% off discount. I also want to make it a 1 time use.

If you want to create affiliate links with embedded discount codes manually, here is the general process:

Step 1: Create a Discount Code in Shopify- Go to Shopify Admin > Discounts.

  • Create a new Discount Code for 10% off.

  • Set it as one-time use per customer (limit usage to one per customer).

  • Save the discount code.

Step 2: Create Affiliate Links with Discount Codes Embedded- Use an affiliate platform like GRIN or Refersion that supports Shopify.

  • Assign the discount code to the affiliate.

  • Generate affiliate links in this format:

https://yourstore.com/discount/DISCOUNTCODE
  • When a friend clicks the link, the discount code is automatically applied at checkout.

Step 3: Share and Track- Affiliates share their unique links.

  • When a friend uses the link and makes a purchase, the discount applies once.

  • The affiliate platform tracks the referral and rewards the referrer accordingly.

Important Notes- Shopify discount codes can be limited to one use per customer to enforce one-time use.

  • Discount codes embedded in URLs apply automatically when customers visit the link.

  • Affiliate apps handle link generation, tracking, and payouts, making management scalable.

  • Some apps also allow you to reward both referrer and referee with discounts or points.
