Shipping profiles problems - painful to add products to profiles and double charging issue

Hi,

I need some guidance on setting up my shipping rates. I have 2 types of products let’s say,
Type 1 - Flat shipping of $4.95
Type 2 - Flat shipping of $9.95

If items from more than 1 type are present in cart, I only want the higher item’s price to show up.

Now, I understand that if you wanna charge different shipping rates for different products, you have to make use of “Custom Shipping Profiles” option. But, there are some problems with it -

  1. Do I have to manually assign products to the profiles? I have 1000s of products currently and I keep adding and removing products every week. Can I not assign the profile via the bulk csv method Shopify provides for products?

  2. How can I make the rates not add up but show highest rate only when items from multiple shipping profiles are present in cart? I couldn’t find an option in shipping and delivery settings.

Many thanks. Appreciate any help I can get on this from the community.

Hello @3Adigit ,
I will try to be short and precise.

1. Do I have to manually assign products to the profiles?
A: You can use our app Auto Shipping Profile: Shipr to do exactly what you want. Using our app you can create rules based on product attributes to bulk assign products to shipping profiles.

  1. How can I make the rates not add up but show highest rate only when items from multiple shipping profiles are present in cart?
A: Sadly this is not possible in Shopify. Shopify can only add rates.
