I’m facing a serious issue with my Shopify store and I’d like to know if anyone here has experienced the same thing (and hopefully found a solution).
Shopify dashboard inconsistency
Example: yesterday I had 704 sessions, 16 orders and €1,753.34 in sales.
The real conversion rate should be around 2.27%, but Shopify shows only 1.42%.
I contacted Shopify support multiple times, but they haven’t been able to resolve it.
Missing sales in Shopify (and therefore in Meta tracking)
Some sales are simply not recorded in Shopify at all.
As a result, Meta Business Manager doesn’t get the right purchase data (even with CAPI enabled), which makes my ad tracking unreliable and hurts campaign optimization.
I’m using Triple Whale for more accurate attribution, but it doesn’t solve the root issue: if Shopify itself misses sales, then Meta is missing them too.
Has anyone here dealt with:
Wrong conversion rate data in Shopify?
Sales not being recorded (leading to incomplete Meta tracking)?
Any insights, workarounds, or technical fixes would be greatly appreciated. This issue has a huge impact on my ads performance and data accuracy.
Hello, Thank you for these links. Unfortunately, I did not find the answer to my questions there… Besides, I have already compared all this with e-commerce friends and they do not have the problem…
Hey Mpvls_Shop, I’ve seen similar issues pop up before. Sometimes it’s down to delayed processing in Shopify, or certain orders coming through third-party apps that don’t fully sync with Shopify’s dashboard. Another culprit can be checkout scripts, custom apps, or payment gateways that don’t report back correctly.
For Meta tracking, even with CAPI, if Shopify doesn’t record the sale, Meta won’t either—so it’s tricky. Some folks end up using Triple Whale or other attribution tools as a backup, like you’re doing, but it’s really just a band-aid if the underlying Shopify data isn’t consistent.
One workaround that’s helped others: check if all orders (especially test orders or ones with unusual payment methods) are hitting Shopify’s API correctly. Also, making sure any custom scripts/apps are fully compatible with Shopify’s reporting can fix some missing sales issues.
Would love to hear if anyone else has found a more permanent fix!
Hi! Quick question: do you operate in the European market/have EU customers? With GDPR it can cause such issues, web tracking usually showing discrepancies compared to registered orders in Shopify database. We saw it frequently for the stores we are tracking.
Thank you very much for your message. I’m always traveling between Switzerland and France for my location… But I mainly sell in France! I think Shopify mistook me for a Swiss store at first since the store was in CHF and German…
The bad news is that if you are selling in countries under GDPR regulations, there’s not much you can do. If a user refuses tracking, Shopify automatically prevents tracking through the pixel, so you will miss those orders in the session conversion rate calculation. This also applies to any other third-party provider that relies on the Shopify pixel or complies with GDPR.

as much as i am able to understand, i feel that your issue is stemming from missing cookie consent or blocked tracking scripts. due to these reasons, shopify will not record some sessions or sales. and you should know that this is very common in European regions where GDRP guidelines apply.
also, based on research and what many other merchants have shared in the past, another thing you should check is if shopify’s customer privacy settings are properly set up. this is important for Shopify analytics to work properly.
hopefully working on these two points resolves the issue for you.
also, i would say look for an alternative in place of triple whale for conversion tracking and sharing data with Meta. Triple Whale might be good app but in such cases, specialized meta pixel apps can be more useful. thats because they are specifically designed to track event data that stems from meta ads for your shopify store. they focus on one platform and offer features that improve event matching, conversion accuracy, and data sharing reliability.
one such meta pixel app you can look at is meta & facebook pixels by nabu. offers accurate tracking, unlimited pixel creation, and even server side tracking.
