Shopify Dynamic Facebook Ads Product Feed - Map Main Image Instead of Variant Image

We are transitioning to using Facebook Catalog Manager and having the product feed dynamically update from our Shopify store. However, we are having a problem wherein the image for our products is always pulling the variant image, which for us (as a manufacturer of custom products) is always just a line drawing, whereas the main image will be a much nicer photo of a possible combination. We want to override the mapping of our products into Facebook Catalog Manager to always pull the product’s main image instead of the variant image so we have the pretty photos show up in Facebook and Instagram.

Does anyone know if this functionality exists or if/how we can override the variant image with the main product image? Thank you in advance for any guidance!

Hi Michelle! Have you figured out if it is actually possible? Also I am struggling to find the free solution to pull the feed from shopify to the google spreadsheet in automatic way (without third party data). is this what you are using? thanks!!

We ended up using a free app by Socialshop called “Google Shopping, Facebook Feed” which allows us to alter the mapping of our feeds so we could point the Image Link to “Product Image Url” instead of “Variant Image Url”. This has worked pretty well for us. We still manually export and import for Pinterest because we were having the same issue with them. Hope this helps!!
