Shopify Shipping label printing suite before address

I use the shopify shipping app and use USPS. Anytime customers insert info into the optional apartment, suite, etc dialogue box, labels are printed with the suite number under the customer name, then the address line under the suite number. I have had USPS return packages because of it. What may be causing this to happen?

Thanks for bringing your question to our Community forum. I’d be happy to provide some clarity on the USPS shipping label format.

Starting in the third week of June, USPS has requested that we change their shipping label format. The new update instead shows the Address Line 2 (Suite, Unit, Apartment #, etc.) below the customer’s name, with the Address Line 1 appearing after that. This is an expected change and a valid label. USPS has always required this order for address lines on their labels, so Shopify has edited this to closer reflect a standard USPS label set up. Thanks for explaining. Interesting USPS wants the suite listed first under the name. I’ve had packages returned as - no address found/no such address. I guess it all depends on who is carrying the mail that day unfortunately.

We also had the same issue and the package is now lost and I’m having to send out a second one. This is the only order where the apartment # was listed first. I’ve had other orders where the apartment number was listed after the street address. There seems to be an inconsistency.
