SHOPIFY STORE IS A SCAMM

Hi, I have been scammed by a shopify store. I ordered a Luna bag as COD was available. After ordering the store became unavailable on shopify. Now when I refused to collect the parcel yet the delivery boy appeared at my gate and pressurized me to receive it. I had to pay and what I received was totally different from what i ordered. Now how do I get my money back. Please help if anyone of you could.

Please help.

Hi @aaayushi534

It sounds like you’ve had a really frustrating experience, and I totally understand how upsetting this can be. You placed an order on a Shopify store because they offered Cash on Delivery (COD), but after ordering, the store disappeared, and you received a completely different item. Plus, the delivery agent pressured you into paying—definitely not how online shopping should be.

Now, let’s talk about what you can do to try to get your money back:

1. Report the Issue to Shopify

Even though Shopify doesn’t handle transactions or refunds directly, they take reports of fraudulent stores seriously. You can report the store to Shopify using this link:
:right_arrow: Shopify Report a Store

Fill in the details of your order, attach any proof (order confirmation, pictures of the wrong item, etc.), and submit your complaint. Shopify investigates such cases and may take action against the store.

2. Contact the Payment Provider

Since you paid via COD, the refund process depends on the delivery company or payment provider. Here’s what you can try:

  • If a courier company delivered it, contact them and explain that you received the wrong item. Some logistics providers allow COD disputes and might offer a return option.
  • If a third-party payment service was involved (like a local COD handling service), check if they have a dispute resolution system.

3. Dispute Through Your Bank or E-Wallet (If You Paid Digitally)

If you used a bank transfer, credit card, or e-wallet to pay after receiving the package, contact your bank and explain the fraud. Many banks have chargeback options for unauthorized or misleading transactions.

4. File a Complaint with Consumer Protection Authorities

Depending on your country, you might have a local consumer protection agency where you can report fraud. In some regions, authorities actively take action against scam sellers.

5. Spread Awareness and Prevent Future Scams- If the store is still running elsewhere (like on social media), warn others by commenting on their posts.

  • Leave reviews on scam-reporting websites to help future buyers avoid this trap.
  • Next time, before purchasing from a new store, check reviews, social media presence, and refund policies to verify legitimacy.

Unfortunately, recovering money from scam stores can be tough with COD, but acting quickly and reporting the issue increases your chances of holding them accountable.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to help.
Best regards,
Daisy
