Shopify Subscriptions app coding

Topic summary

A user installed Shopify’s native Subscriptions app but encountered an issue where customers could only subscribe, with no one-time purchase option available. Shopify support confirmed the problem existed across different themes but couldn’t identify the cause or provide a fix, suggesting the user hire a paid Shopify expert.

After uninstalling the app and switching to an alternative subscription solution, residual code from the original app remained visible on the site—specifically a leftover subscription button. Shopify support again recommended paying an expert to remove the code, as they don’t handle coding issues.

The user expressed frustration about being asked to pay for fixing a problem they didn’t create, expecting Shopify to resolve issues caused by their own app. Another community member offered assistance, but the user ultimately hired a Shopify expert to resolve the issue immediately.

Resolution: Problem solved through paid expert help.

Hi,

So I decided to try Shopify Subscriptions app on my website rather than the paid one I was using.
However, it didn’t have the option to make a one off purchase, only the option of subscribing.
I was chatting with the Shopify help people and basically the person said that they tried it on a different theme and could replicate the same problem. So there was an issue that was there but they didn’t know why or how to fix it.

The advice was to pay a Shopify expert to sort the coding.
I didn’t understand why I would need to do that as I hadn’t messed with any coding, I only downloaded the app.
Anyway, I uninstalled the app as I just couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of it.

Got a new subscription app, all works fine BUT I still have a subsription button thing left over from the shopify subscription app.
Got in touch with Shopify help and they cleared cache, checked I had uninstalled everything properly etc and said, I may need to pay a Shopify expert to help remove the left over coding as they cannot do coding.

So now I’m stuck and don’t really know what to do. Why would I pay someone to fix the problem when I never created it. I thought Shopify would sort it.

Can anyone here help me?

Keeping my fingers crossed! lol

Jaime

Thank you so much but I ended up just paying a Shopify expert as I wanted it sorted straight away.
It’s all done now.
Really appreciate your reply though :slightly_smiling_face:
