Hi,
I tried to go back to an older version of my theme as it got [messed] up, but there is no change if I go back. Not on the live website, nor in the preview. Nothing changes if I change page.liquid, collection.liquid or theme.liquid etc. Any idea with causes this?

To better support you, please try the following troubleshooting steps first:
At that point, let me know the results of what you see. I’d also like to recommend that you keep a duplicate or back up copy of your theme when making code changes as per our editing themes doc.
This way you will always have a safe copy of your theme.
