I received an email that my account did not follow trademark rule that it will be suspend and I was told to click a link which took me to telegram channel with a Shopify team. So I was confused . I need a clear explanation on what to do. Thank you
Welcome to the community.
Note that is most likely a scam and not real Shopify team. Take a good look at first email land senders email, it is most likely something like
superrealshopifyteam@gmail.com plus it have that telegram link and they most likely offered a service to sort everything for 200-400 USD ?
Shopify will never use Gmail and check this link
it will clear a few things.
Recognizing legitimate Shopify emails
Shopify will only send emails from official domains such as @shopify.com, @email.shopify.com, @em.shopify.com, and @shopify-billpay.melio.com. Emails from public email services such as Gmail, Yahoo, Apple mail, or Hotmail aren’t from Shopify and should be treated as potential phishing attempts.
There are similar or the same attempts that 100s of people already reported, and if you search you can find a different stories and different attempts to scam you.
So watch out and stay safe.
Hello @Zeebelapparel
That email and Telegram link sound like phishing—Shopify will never ask you to join a third-party chat to resolve trademark claims. Here’s what to do:
1. Don’t click any more links
If the message came from a non-@shopify.com address or directs you off shopify.com, treat it as malicious and delete it.
2. Verify in your Shopify Admin
Log in directly at https://www.shopify.com/login and check Settings → Plan and permissions or look for any alerts at the top of your dashboard. Real trademark or policy notices will appear there, not in your inbox.
3. Contact Shopify Support securely
Go to https://help.shopify.com/contact, sign in, and open a support ticket or request a callback. Reference “possible trademark suspension phishing” and forward the original email so they can confirm its legitimacy.
4. Change your password and enable 2FA
As a precaution, update your Shopify password and turn on two-factor authentication under Settings → Security. That locks out anyone who might have your credentials.
5. Report the phishing attempt
Forward the suspicious email to abuse@shopify.com and then delete it. Shopify’s security team investigates these scams and can warn other merchants.
