Simprosys Brand (vendor) value not pulling through to Google Merchant Center

So I have my merchant center populated using the Simprosys feed app, all the products have populated in my account as expected with the correct descriptions etc. However, when I went to set up an ad campaign earlier I noticed that there was no option to sort by brand.

After some investigation I noticed that the brand value in my merchant center account was left blank. I’m not sure why this is the case as when I check the individual products on Simprosys they all have the brand values populated, it just doesn’t seem to carry over to Merchant center for some reason. I have thought about populating them manually but then presumably when I end up uploading new products they will all re-sync without the brand values attached - unless I am misunderstanding something and thats not how GMC works with manual product updates.

I have also checked my Simprosys app’s settings under “Sync settings from Shopify” and the “Submit Brand Name, MPN (SKU) and GTIN (Barcode)” box is ticked, which is the only thing that I could think that may have been wrong with the feed.

If anyone has any ideas on why this may be happening or on a potential solution please could you let me know - thanks!

Normally when you submit the brand, you need the barcode. If no barcode exists, then do not submit the brand, as otherwise you will get limited performance.

Do your products have barcodes?

Some do have GTIN codes, I populated these manually for the ones that Google flagged. All of the other ones are listed as custom products in Merchant center, which do not have GTINs.

If the products are (custom) then make sure there is no brand, or mpn value and the identifier exist value is set to no.

You can check by going to Google Merchant Center > products > all products > click on a product > scroll to the bottom and view the final attributes.

If it’s wrong, then contact simprosys to fix the issue.

You can also manually setup rules such as the below video:

Or you could use a better app such as: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

Hi Emmanuel,

Just wondering what features Multiple Google Shopping Feeds app has that make it better compared to Simprosys and if there’s any benefits if we were to change to their app? Especially for feed optimisation for Free Listings?

Thanks.

I can’t speak much nowadays about Simprosys, but when I tried it a few years ago, it was very limited in options, such as missing attributes.

While multifeeds I have found to be updating and adding new features all the time. I use it for all my clients, and it’s a great solution for everything I need.
