Unfortunately the developer who I approached is telling me that my idea of adding a block is not going to work. Another developer suggests that I add a new section to the product admin page so that what I want can be achieved, and that I’ll be able to show different settings for different products.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to share some insight in regards to the Shopify admin and its ability to be customized. While there are areas of the admin that offer some level of customization, such as the order section (i.e filters and columns), it cannot be customized to include any additional features.
It’s completely understandable how this may not be ideal, but am happy to make a note with our Developers. We are always looking for ways to improve the platform and appreciate all feedback! While we are unable to guarantee this change will become available, the more feedback received will lead to its likelihood for change.

If this is not a workaround to what I need, is there any method that can be used in my case?
Basically what I need is an accordion that looks just like the one in Image 4. It will be used to show the level of certain characteristics of fabric such as transparency, softness, etc.
It has to work in a way that when I select, for example level 3 for softness, it will show 3x black pentagon + 2x white pentagon to indicate that the softness is level 3 just like Image 5. The level of the indicators will be fully customizable, and can be shown differently on the individual product page of different products. If it can be done by creating a custom block/section, different product templates will be created for different product collections so that my website could show fabric characteristics accordions with different settings.
The main issue here is that the developer who I am dealing with is telling me that it is unachievable in the form of a block/section.
To provide some further clarification, the admin of the shop is unable to be customized beyond what’s currently available. Due to this, sections and/or block would not be able to be added to products within the Product Section of the admin. I have however, made this suggestion with our Developers as we are always open to changes!
If however, you would like customers to be able to select various options within a product (i.e thickness, sheen, softness, etc) you can look to the Shopify App Store for an available app. For example, the app Variant Option Product Option will allow you to customize the way products and their variants appear on your storefront.
