I have just launched a shopify store, it worked well at first but now almost every product I have published to my store shows sold out. But if I look in my account it shows none of the items I have published is actually sold out. I have changed themes, deleted and reloaded new items, searched and searched through code and settings, and cannot figure it out. Is there something im missing?
Topic summary
A Shopify store owner reports that nearly all published products display as “sold out” on the storefront, despite backend inventory showing items in stock. The issue persists across multiple troubleshooting attempts:
Steps Already Taken:
- Changed themes
- Deleted and reloaded products
- Searched through code and settings
Two community members offered potential solutions:
- Check locations and shipping/pickup settings, as these can affect product availability
- Verify products are linked to active inventory locations via Settings > Locations
- Confirm inventory tracking is enabled and “Continue selling when out of stock” is unchecked
- Temporarily disable third-party apps or custom code
Current Status: The suggested solutions did not resolve the issue. The problem remains unresolved, with the root cause still unidentified.
Also check your locations and shipping/pickup settings as these may change product availability on top of inventory.
Hi @EverythingtoYou
This usually happens when your products aren’t properly linked to an inventory location. Go to Settings > Locations in your Shopify admin and make sure all your products are assigned to an active location with available stock. Also, double-check that the inventory is being tracked and ‘Continue selling when out of stock’ is not checked (unless you want that). If you’re using any third-party apps or custom code, try disabling them temporarily to rule them out.
