Add Section controls in Shopify’s Theme Editor appeared missing on a product page using Dawn 15.2.0. The user could still add entirely new sections, but after deleting elements under Product information there seemed to be no way to restore them.
Update/solution: The add control is now hidden and only appears on hover. Move the cursor to the very end/bottom edge of the section; a small “+” icon appears when positioned precisely, allowing you to add back blocks/sections.
Context: Screenshots illustrated where the former buttons were and showed the hover target for the new “+” control.
Outcome: Resolved by discovering the hover-to-reveal UI behavior. No theme code changes or bug fixes required; likely an editor UI/UX change. The discussion contains no official acknowledgement, but the practical workaround is to hover at the section edge to reveal the “+.”
Status: Resolved; no open questions remain.
Today I wanted to continue working on the website but all the “Add Section” buttons in the Theme Editor have disappeared.
Theme is DAWN 15.2.0
Add Sections is still available for completely new sections.
But if I delete an element under “Product Information” (see picture) there is no possibility to restore this section.
Does anyone have a solution what Shopify has thought to customize the theme editor like this?
