tracking stock of an item that is sold in packs

Topic summary

A merchant wants to sell one card in multiple pack sizes (pair, 10, 50) set as separate products and asks how to keep inventory synchronized across them.

Recommended approaches:

  • Use an inventory sync app to share one stock pool across products/variants with different SKUs; Mechanic can implement custom sync tasks.
  • If the aim is tiered pricing, use a quantity‑breaks app; bundle apps can also manage pack logic.
  • If SKUs don’t matter, the total price is unchanged by quantity, and it’s online‑store only, apply a theme customization: choosing a “pack” variant adds that many units of the base item to cart (variant‑quantity approach).

Vendor options mentioned:

  • Fusion Inventory app with a user guide.
  • Easify Inventory Sync: create a draft Base product for single units, link pack variants via bundle groups, and auto‑sync stock both ways when packs sell or base inventory changes.

No decision or resolution yet; next step is selecting and configuring a sync/bundle solution.

Hi! I am about to sell a christmas card. This is the first card that I will offer as a pair, pack of 10, 50 etc. At the moment I have set the packs up as different products. Can someone tell me the best way I should be doing this to track the stock, as they are the same item, but available in d

Hi @sahrar :waving_hand: Find an inventory sync app on the app store , or service if they are different products with different skus but need to share an inventory pool.

Automation apps like mechanic can address bespoke scenarios:

If doing this because you need tier pricing an alternative is using a quantity-breaks app , or in some cases a bundle-app to manage that.

An alternative is if #1 the skus don’t actually matter and #2 the total price doesn’t change for the different quantities and #3 this is for the online sales channel only then do a theme customization to just add a main product to the cart with the relevant quantity. A variant-quantity customization.

i.e. product A - variantx1 , product A - variantx10 , and product A - variantx100… when variantx100 is selected then 100 quantites of variantx1 are put in the cart instead of variantx100

Hi @sahrar , our app Fusion Inventory helps merchants track inventory of products sold in packs. Please install it and take a look at our user guide for instructions on how to set it up. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @sahrar ,

The Easify Inventory Sync app can help you track the inventory of products sold in packs with ease. Here’s how it works :hugs: :

  1. Create a Base Product: Start by setting up a Base product (Draft) to track the inventory of single units.
  2. Set Up Bundle Groups: Use the app to create Bundle groups that link your Base product to each pack variant (like 2, 10, 50 units, etc.).
  3. Automatic Updates: The app will automatically adjust the available quantity of each pack based on the inventory of the Base product. Similarly, when a pack is sold, the inventory of the Base product will be updated accordingly.

If you provide more details about your product, I can guide you through the setup process step by step. Alternatively, you can reach out to the Easify team for quick assistance.
