I sell a product that consists of a white bottle with a pink lid and black holder. This product can be purchased as a complete unit. However, I also allow customers to buy the lid/holders separately on my website in different colours.
When someone purchases a pink lid individually, I want Shopify to automatically deduct the inventory from the stock of the complete product (white bottle with pink lid).
How can I set up my Shopify inventory so that the stock levels for the lids and the complete product are linked, and inventory adjusts automatically when either is sold?
You can use third-party or custom apps to link and sync inventory for your complete product and its components. Shopify doesn’t natively support automatic inventory adjustments for bundled products. Here’s how to set it up:
Set up the complete product (white bottle with pink lid) as a bundle containing:
1 white bottle
1 pink lid
1 black holder

It allows you to create an inventory of raw materials and then link your different variants to them specifying how much of the material is needed for the variant. Then when one of those variants is sold it draws down the material inventory and updates all other variants linked to the material.
For your case you would create a raw material for each colour of bottle, lid and holder. Then you would link each lid and holder variant one to one with the appropriate raw material. The bottle variants would link to one of each type of raw material. Then when any of them are sold all each variant’s inventory will be updated.
