Transfer Store Ownership and Account Billing

Looking for advice/instruction on transfering owneship of a store currently in my name. I signed up to shopify with their free trial offer to create a store to designed to sell a natural health product develped by a famliy member. Ive been working on the site and nearly complete. I did not create the store through the deveopment paltform, because I wasn’t aware of that method when I started. Now I want to transfer the store along with the billing commiment to the family member and become a colaborator for the site. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this, and let me know once the tranfer is done will I need to close my acount to stop the billing.

Hello Ollie, I read those articles, but their instructions/approach is from the perspective of a development site, and using the Partner Dashboard, which I did not use when creating the store. So the site is not currently on that platform. I have since signed up as a partner, but I dont know if I could use that option after the fact. Please advise.

Could you let us know if the online store is on the Shopify platform, by any chance? I am just trying to get a better understanding of this so I can assist you accordingly. Typically, in order to transfer the ownership from a Partner account to a client - the online store will need to be created from the Partner account.

Okay, I’ve seen those instructions, I just wanted to make sure they would work for my circumstance. What about billing? would that automatically transfer to the new owner, and we would just need to update the payment method?

That is a great question! When transferring ownership of a Shopify store, all of the billing information will remain on the Shopify store. If you would like assistance with transferring the ownership of your Shopify store and have the billing information removed from the store, I would suggest reaching out to our live support for further assistance. You can get in touch with our live support by navigating to the Help Center.

When you arrive at the Help Center, you will need to make the virtual assistant be aware that you would like to Speak with support and you will be connected accordingly.
