What is your approach to optimizing high-resolution diamond and jewelry images and videos to ensure fast loading without compromising visual detail and quality, which are crucial for showcasing our products?
Are you implementing advanced image optimization techniques like next-gen formats (WebP, AVIF), responsive images ( element, srcset), and selective loading for different devices and network conditions?

Hi Susansj,
Image Optimization Techniques
Implement WebP (85-90% quality) for broad compatibility
Consider AVIF for hero images where supported (better compression)
Fallback to JPEG for older browsers
Generate multiple resolutions (e.g., 400px, 800px, 1200px, 2000px)
Use srcset with size attributes for proper selection
Video Optimization-
Use H.265 (HEVC) for Apple devices
VP9 for Android/Chrome
Keep bitrate high (8-12 Mbps) for jewelry details
Let me know if you need any other further suggestions .
Hi Susan!
The general advice here is that you can upload the biggest image that your theme needs and we’ll take care about the rest.
Our platform handles image optimisation automatically for you. We choose the format (JPEG, AVIF, WebP, etc.) and compression level to provide the best balance between the quality and size. Ecommerce is all about presenting products in a stunning way so we’re deliberately not trying to squeeze every single byte out of each image.
When it comes to serving responsive images, it’s mostly down to the theme itself. That said, all of our free themes and the newest versions of paid ones should have it baked-in.
