What documents are needed for non-USA residents without SSN?

I’m not from USA. So what documents that I need? I don’t have ssn.

If you are not from the USA and do not have a Social Security Number (SSN), you can still set up a Shopify store and start selling. While an SSN is typically required for tax purposes in the USA, there are alternative options for non-US residents. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN): You can apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the USA. The ITIN is a tax processing number issued by the IRS to individuals who are required to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number but are not eligible for an SSN. You can use the ITIN to fulfill the tax requirements for your Shopify store.

  2. Register in your country: Ensure that you follow the necessary steps to register your business and comply with the tax regulations in your own country. This includes obtaining any required business licenses, permits, or tax identification numbers specific to your location.

  3. Payment gateway requirements: Depending on the payment gateway you choose for your Shopify store, they may have their own specific requirements for non-US residents. Make sure to check with the payment gateway provider regarding their documentation and verification processes.

It’s recommended to consult with a tax professional or advisor in your country who can provide specific guidance on the tax obligations and requirements for your e-commerce business. They will be able to assist you in understanding the local tax laws, filing requirements, and any necessary documentation for your particular situation.
