Hi there, I’m looking for an app that lets us create a bundle or upsell for when a customer buys 3 products they can then choose a fourth product for free. Do you have any recommendations?

You can create your own BOGO discounts through admin without apps. Instructions can be found here under Create and automatic Buy X Get Y discount:

For bundles there are 2 different types of apps.
One type is creating custom pages in your theme and letting your buyers select different items as part of a bundle before check out. These are then added as individual order lines and a discount is applied like a BOGO automation.
Other type is creating a virtual item (normal single product) that states in contains a certain set of components. You would need to use a third party app to bundle each kit up with the relevant SKUs.
For example:
Product 1 - Bundle of SKU ABC & XYZ
Product 2 - Bundle of SKU: ABC & ZZZ
Couple of things you need to consider is fulfilment and inventory management. Our bundle app will let you connect up all your products to correct SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level. So in above example both products would update if product ABC changes.
In this method you can also create options for the bundle whereby the customer can select an additional item - even a free item. There is no need for discount codes as you define what the bundle price is.

To create Buy One, Get One discounts you can check out our Creating Automatic Discounts documentation as it touches on how to successfully achieve this. It’s important to note however, that the Get Y product is required to be added to the cart for the discount to successfully apply at checkout.
Alternatively, you can look to hiring one of our Shopify Experts as they can assist with this customization. For upselling, I highly recommend checking PickyStory’s bundle deal.
With Bundles, you can upsell deals on your product pages or any other page in your store. You can create manual bundles or use automation bundles based on your store’s sales history.
Examples:
- Buy products A + B + C together
- Buy products A + B + C for 10% off

BOGO discounts are also available in our bundle deal.
With BOGO/Buy X Get Y discount, you can create conditional deals where customers need to buy certain products to Get others for a discounted price or for free.
Examples:
- Buy X Get Y
- Buy 2 Get 50% on other 2
- Buy 2 Get 1 for free
