I have a problem with ISO-18245, which is the MCC, and is a merchant category code is a four-digit number that identifies the primary purpose of your business. And I can’t find which number is the right one… So anyone can help me with that??
The ISO-18245 standard provides a list of merchant category codes (MCCs) that are used to classify businesses based on their primary activities. To determine the appropriate MCC for your business, you will need to review the list and identify the code that best matches your primary business activity.
The ISO-18245 MCC list is quite extensive and covers a wide range of industries and business activities. Some examples of MCCs include:
5411 Grocery Stores, Supermarkets
5812 Eating Places, Restaurants
7299 Miscellaneous Personal Services
7999 Amusement and Recreation Services
8999 Professional Services (Not Elsewhere Classified)
You can find the full list of MCCs in the ISO-18245 standard documentation, or you can search for a specific code using online tools such as the MCC Lookup Tool provided by the credit card processing company Vantiv.
It’s important to note that the MCC code you select can have an impact on the fees and charges associated with your credit card processing, so it’s important to choose the appropriate code for your business. If you are unsure which MCC to select, you may want to consult with a financial advisor or merchant services provider for guidance.
