I work for a company that manages the logistics for several Shopify Shops for our clients. Some clients migrate their webshops from a competitor to Shopify while others migrate away from Shopify.
Whenever the latter happens the Shopify shop uninstalls our App and we receive a “shop/redact” event at some point.
However it is not clear what the intention is of a "shop/redact" event.
The real issue being: when a shop uninstalls our App it does not mean the client stops being ‘our client’. We still need to take care of shipments, returns and warranty related scenarios for their consumers which would be impossible to do if we deleted all customer data we received through that Shopify shop.
Could Shopify clarify the intention of the webhook and the expected response to such an event?
E.g. Is it to help us identify potential shops for which we must investigate if personal data must be deleted?
