Things I wish I had known when I was doing the switch from QB POS to Shopify POS. I am coming at this from a standpoint of wasted time. It is not that I regret the switch.

There is conflicting information on how to handle issues when searching Shopify help. For a while I thought I was tripping. I would follow instructions available in one area of Shopify Help and it would not solve the issues. Then, I’d see another solution, etc. Finally, we had a meeting with 2 other tech people to help us overcome a few issues. They both agreed there is conflicting information. So, we had to go the trial and error route to find a solutions.

There are no accurate QB migration videos available for multi-store locations.

There are no thorough staff training videos. One on one staff training from the beginning.

I would have mapped my locations while on the phone with Shopify. The expectation that I would should know store 2 = Qty 1 and store 3 = Qty 2, store 4 = Qty 3 still baffles me. Also, we added a store location that did not have inventory assigned. We should have done that after the QB migration because you cannot have a location without inventory (it adds inventory to that location anyway).

Rather than keeping online store and POS separate (as suggested by Shopify), I should have taken the extra time to go into online store, add other locations and update inventory counts.

Duplicate products appear randomly. I was told entering the barcode in the SKU causes an error message. Not consistently.
We go live tomorrow…
