I’m looking for an inventory tracking system (possibly custom ERP) that performs the following:
Track two different monthly subscription levels / clients / products must differ month-to-month for the length of the subscription client / duration.
Track nine (that’s for launch, it will expand over time) different products that may be purchased individually or with the add-on of either of the two subscription levels however, the items that are delivered must be associated with the specific product the client orders and must differ month-to-month for the life of the subscription.
And obviously, tracking inventory on the backend is necessary to ensure product is available each month for the above aforementioned attributes.
Seems like you might be operating as a 3PL? @davidlillis can you give some more information on this. When you say subscription levels / clients / products, are you referring to your client who offers a subscription which will need to randomly select different products to be parts of the bundle each month?
Also, for clarity are you looking for an app that will handle the storefront changes to reflect your subscription methods? Or, is this on the backend?
For inventory management across your subscriptions and regular orders coming from a Shopify site, you can check SKUSavvy which is a warehouse & fulfillment app for Shopify that will track inventory across warehouses, track bin locations, pull orders in across channels, enable order batching, and assemble digital pick lists with real-time inventory and barcode scanning through any mobile device.
Send a message if you’d like to discuss your use case in more detail.
Hi Kingstore, thank you very much for your response, it is tremendously helpful. Apologies for the late response, I’m in the middle of M&A project for the the company that I work for and have been working with several new engineers that required an immense amount of direction to the tune of working from last Thursday through yesterday breaking for sleep only! Hence why I’m starting a new business!
to clarify, there are two different types of subscriptions:
1.). The client may choose a generic option for monthly subscription where they receive new but different products each month (the products can never be repeated for the length of the client’s subscription).
2.). The client may choose, as of now, one of nine different products as a one-time purchase or add-on one of the two levels of subscriptions. If the subscription add-on option is chosen, we will supply monthly items for that specific one of nine products the client has chosen (the items inserted into the box are specific to the model the client has chosen to purchase and cannot be repeated for the life of the client’s subscription).
To sum, option one is fairly simple, track client, sku’s for the variety of items that will be inserted in the box separated month-to-month. Option two is a little more complex based on having to pick items that are specifically designed for one of the nine specific models we are selling (and also track the the client’s purchase option - one-time only of the specific model or the specific model with subscription level & what items are placed in the monthly box based on model / subscription level).
I will research SKUsavvy, thank you very much for the recommendation! This is our last hump before we pre-launch and very excited to move forward! A little background, I have been working in IT in the M&A, merger and private equity space for over 23 years and when starting this idea, I have zero e-comm, marketing or advertising experience and have been self-teaching myself every step of the way. it’s a fascinating business, at least to me, and I’m enjoying it thoroughly but please forgive me for my naivety. If I ask questions that appear rudimentary, it’s only due to my lack of knowledge and experience.
