Why are my Shopify payments still on hold?

My shopify payments have been on hold for the longest, I have provided all the information and completed everything, it just keeps telling me to contact support but it bring me to the same page that provides no help every time. How can I fix this?

Hi, @shopwrldwide

I understand that your Shopify Payments account has been on hold, you’ve provided all necessary documents and have completed everything. However, when contacting support you’re brought to a page that provides no help?

If there is a red banner present within your Shopify admin indicating your Shopify Payments are on hold you’ll need to contact our Live Support team to assist with this. Often times if you’ve just created a store and signed up for Shopify Payments this may be a standard review. I’ll list the steps below to ensure you’re in contact with our Support team.

How to contact Shopify Support:

  • Navigate to the Contact Shopify Support page. You’ll need to ‘Login’ to your store. If you’re already logged in you can select your store and proceed.
  • In the search bar, type in a topic you’d like to find and click Search.
  • On the following page, scroll to the bottom and click Continue under Get Support.
  • You’ll then be brought to a page that displays our available contact options.

I recommend utilizing our 24/7 live chat feature to speak with our Support team. For more information on how Shopify payments work, check out our Shopify Payments FAQ resource.

Shopify Payments (backed by Stripe) are the #1 payment processor of choice for Shopify stores. This is down to Shopify making it the most desirable for obvious reasons. As a result, they waive transaction fees on orders if enabled. If you don’t have it enabled, then orders would be subject to transaction fees from the payment processor AND a Shopify order transaction fee. They soon add up so Shopify Payments is a great choice.

Hey Shopwrldwide,

We would like to tell you that Shopify Payment is put on hold only when Shopify finds some kind of discrepancy with your store. Following are the things that give rise to this -

  1. If you’re selling products related to hemp, and psychoactive substances then you should have permission to sell.
  2. Make sure that there is clarity in product categories.
  3. Make sure that the flow of selling products should be undisturbed. Always have a clear path from the time of discovering, to complete the payment process.
  4. Try your best that no customer complaints related to refunds.
  5. Always have a clear refund and return policy updated.
  6. Check with your address and account - if there is anything that’s pending, then make sure you complete the setup first.

Apart from Shopify Payments, there are more than 100 third-party payment providers that you can connect with. Depending on your region, you can pick a suitable payment method for your store till the time you have issues with Shopify Payment.
