Not sure where to go from here…I’ve watched countless Shopify youtube videos and I do exactly what it says.
My product has one tag. The product shows under collection. I created a new menu item, and tagged the collection. The menu item shows up on the shop page. If you click on it, it shows the collection, but when you click on the collection image, no product is there. It says to use less filters, but I have no idea what that means. There’s only the one product tag. I’ve been all over the place and don’t see anything that says filter.
If you’re still having issues with this after going through the Forum thread shared by @Dan-From-Ryviu , can you check if the collection on your menu item is being filtered with tags? You can follow the steps below to double check this on your end:
Navigate to your Shopify Admin > Sales Channels > Online Store > Navigation > Main Menu and select Edit for the menu item that you’re having issues with.
From there, you can double check the Filter collection with tags box, as seen below, and see if there are any tags within this section. If there are, you can delete the tags and save your page to see if products will then show up on your storefront.
For more information, when a tag is specified in the ‘Filter collection with tags’ section, only products with the tags listed will be shown in the allocated collection. If you add more than one tag, each product in the collection must then have all listed tags to be pulled through.
Let me know if you need me to clarify any of the information above.
It also sounds like you’re familiar with our Shopify tutorials on YouTube, which is really great to hear! I also thought I’d highlight our Shopify Blog and Shopify Learn channel, as we have some really useful resources there that can help with setting up your store for success.
Apart from your collection pages and menu items, is there anything else that you’re currently working on for your store at the moment?
Thank you so much for replying! yes, even after reading that article, it seems as though I was doing thing exactly as it said to. I did follow your directions, and I don’t have any filters on the collection. I did do the automatic tag for the collection and only tagged the products with one word, and made sure the tag and collection had it exactly the same (no caps for example). The collection shows all of the correct products in there, I just can’t figure out what filter it’s telling me to remove. Someone in another troubleshooting post said to remove the filter from the actual theme, and showed a screenshot of the filter with an x next to it. I think the filters were availability and something else. However in my theme I do see those filters, but there’s no x or anything for me to click on to remove it? Then another post suggested going into the code to rewrite something and gave steps how to do that, but again, the things they were saying to click on, I didn’t have in my theme to be able to click on it. It was something about collection and liquidy? It was under the “assets” tab, but I didn’t have that thing they were instructing us to do. I’m at a loss.
Thanks for getting back to me with those details, @mojavefarms . Appreciate all the troubleshooting you’ve gone through and have outlined for me!
