Why can't I reactivate my UK-based company's online payments?

I am having some trouble regarding my Shopify payments as I have submitted all the details about my company and my company is based in the UK while I am currently living outside of the US. I received an email last week that I can’t use Shopify payments while I meet the criteria mentioned in the articles for Shopify payments. How i can reactivate my Shopify payments? what do I need to do? is the rejection due to my own identity or something else?

This issue often comes down to personal residency rather than just the company’s UK registration. Shopify Payments requires both:

  1. A company registered in a supported country (your UK-based company)

  2. An individual (you) who is also personally residing in that country

So if you live outside the UK, even if your company and bank account are based there, Shopify may deny access to Shopify Payments. This is likely why your application was rejected.

What You Can Do:- Appoint a UK-based director (if not already done), and use their documents for verification.

  • Switch to a third-party payment provider like WallidPay, which are more flexible with international owners.

  • Reach out to Shopify Support and clearly explain that your company meets all UK business requirements and see if they can escalate your case.
