Hi guys. when i change the color of my product this happens .. keep in mind that i have the quantities of the products.
Topic summary
A Shopify store owner is experiencing an issue where changing a product’s color variant causes problems with available quantities, despite having inventory set for the product overall.
Diagnosis:
- The likely cause is that inventory exists at the product level but not for the specific color variant
- When customers select certain colors, the “add to cart” button becomes unclickable due to zero variant-level inventory
Recommended troubleshooting steps:
- Navigate to Admin → Products → Select the affected product
- Locate the variant section and click on the problematic color variant
- Scroll to the ‘Inventory’ section
- Click the blue number under ‘available’ to adjust inventory for that specific variant
- For single-location shipping, update the variant inventory to make the add-to-cart button functional
Status: The issue remains unresolved pending the store owner’s verification of variant-level inventory settings. A follow-up with a store link was requested for real-time testing.
Hey there, @Cartiumstore . Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community with your situation. It’s nice to meet you. ![]()
So my first thought while checking out this screenshot is that you may have inventory for the product, but you may not have any inventory for that specific variant. I’m going to ask that you double-check the inventory for the variant using the following screenshots and steps to help:
- First, login to your Admin, and click ‘Products’ on the right hand menu
- Then find your desired product and click it
- On the following screen, find the variant section and click onto the variant having issues
- Then, scroll down to the ‘Inventory’ section and click the blue number under ‘available’ to adjust the inventory.
If you’re only shipping out of one location, then you should be able to use the above method to change the inventory for the variant and then the button to ‘add to cart’ should be clickable. If you check this and things don’t get fixed, please follow up with me and let me know. I’d also appreciate it if you could follow up with a link to your store so I can test the functionality here in real time.
Hope to hear from you soon!
