Why does my clothing brand show 'shipping not available' at checkout?

Hello, I have a small clothing brand that I launched. I have orders from all over the US, but Im getting messages and complaints that in my local area, some customers aren’t able to checkout, because it says “shipping not available for selected address.” Anyone run into this issue before and can help?

Will be much appreciated!

Hey, @VladG842 .

Congrats on your store launch! I’m excited to hear that you’ve been getting some orders already, that’s wonderful. I definitely understand the importance of getting this resolved, and I’m here to help.

To gather some more context, is this message only occurring to customers in your local area, or other parts of the US as well? The first thing I suggest is to ensure that you’ve** set up your shipping** to include the entire US. You can do so by going to Settings > Shipping and Delivery > Manage Rates.

If that is set up correctly, the error may occur as a result of missing gaps between the different shipping rates or having overlapping weights. Shipping is based on the total value or weight, depending on how you have set up your shipping rates. If for example, you have set up your rates by value then you should have a rate for every possible scenario without any gaps. For example:

Can you please share with me a screenshot of your shipping settings? When doing so, make sure that you don’t include any sensitive information. Like the example above, just the shipping settings will do.

Looking forward to hearing back from you, so that we can continue to work on this together.

Hey! Thanks for the response, I thought I set up the shipping rates
correctly as I followed Shopify instructions I saw on YouTube.
But I’ll look over everything again and see if maybe j missed something. I
am currently away from my computer but I will analyze everything when I get
back.

Hey, @VladG842 .

Happy to help! Please take your time and let me know if you have any questions once you get the chance to take a peak at your shipping settings. I’m more than happy to continue working together to get this resolved.

Talk soon,

Hey, i looked through my shipping. I have it set up through USPS and through UPS so that the buyer can select which service they want.

I took a screen shot of the page, i thought everything was setup the right way. Do you see anything wrong with this?

Hi @VladG842

This error message could be displayed for a number of reasons, so kindly check a few things.

First, you’ll want to make sure you have added the state/ region within the USA you are using at checkout. When you add the USA to a shipping zone, you’ll see that it’s split into 62 “states”:

These 62 states will include the 50 states of the United States, territories (e.g. Puerto Rico), and armed forces locations (e.g. Armed Forces Americas). You’ll want to make sure you have all the states selected you wish to ship to, including the state containing the address you used at checkout.

Hey! Thank you for the help and advise!

I looked over all the shipping rates and prices but noticed that it was the PO box that was giving me issues. Once i switched the address that the packages would be shipped from, then it would let me proceed to checkout. I will be working with the post office to resolve this issue, so that everything is linked to the PO box.

Thank you again for the help!

Hey, @VladG842 .

Thanks for getting back to me here. I appreciate it! I was going to mention the P.O box as well, as the other shipping settings look totally fine. It’s possible that the PO box address you entered was not formatted correctly. I think you’re right in saying that reaching out to your PO box provider is a great next step to verify the PO box address. Once you have done so, if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach back out here.

Talk soon,

Thank you, I absolutely will.

Hopefully this doesn’t occur anymore .
