Why does Shop Pay say it can't verify my identity during checkout?

In the past I have used shop pay to pay for things in installments with no issues. I see it’s powered by Affirm which I am in good standing with and have plenty of available spending money with. However, lately when I try to check out with installments using Shop Pay it claims it cannot verify my identity? I have a code sent to my cell phone that I put in but after I put in date of birth it acts like I’m wrong about that? It’s been extremely frustrating. The only support option I seem to have here is related to stores but I’m not selling anything. Just a consumer trying to use shop pay to check out who is annoyed that it claims it cannot verify who I am. All my information is the same everywhere it needs to be. I didn’t enter some different name anywhere. Address and phone number all the same. Like if you wanna claim it’s a credit issue then say that don’t say you cannot confirm the details I put in as if something I put in is incorrect. Anyone else have this issue??

Hi there, @Gearheadbabe85 !

Welcome to the Community! Definitely a great place to gather some input regarding anything about the platform!

With regards to your inquiry, are you able to expound further on the issues you are facing? Has this been happening with various stores or just one attempt? The more information you are able to share, we can help you through this.

In the meantime, I have attached Shop Pay’s landing page where you can reach their support team as well as other documentation regarding Shop Pay Installments.

I am definitely looking forward to hearing more from you.

I’m having this same problem going to click continue to payment plans and it just says it can’t verify information you’ve provided it’s did it before but yesterday when it did it i by passed it once but now I can seem to get passed it at all

I have the same issue. I have standing loans with Affirm one of which I just paid off but for some reason Shop Pay cannot verify me. Shop Pay support sends me to Affirm and Affirm support sends me to Shop Pay… It seems as though no one wanrs to own this so us consumers are just out of luck.

I have had the same issue except I’ve not used installments w shop pay prior. I’ve always had this issue even after verifying all my info is up to date and accurate.

Yep. Total bs. They sent me an email about why they couldn’t “verify” me. They verified. They checked my credit and credit history in a few seconds and deduced that 1) I have no credit cards. That’s bad apparently. 2)I have 1 cable company collection. ONE. 3) I just paid off all my debt and student debt was cancelled, so there’s nothing really in my credit. Good for me irl, bad for me on paper.

And this is supposed to HELP CONSUMERS WHO NEED IT. But it’s the same old BS. If you don’t have debt or credit cards, you can’t get a card and you can’t get installments. Welcome to dystopia.

Yes I’m having the same exact problem. Have you been able to get it corrected?I don’t understand, it’s frustrating because I’m trying to buy something and when I use affirm it works but I don’t have that option.

Let me guess, they never helped? Shop Pay Installments suck, if I lose a customer because they CAN’T PAY ME, I am going to be livid. SHOPIFY FIX THIS MY GOD

I am having to a “T” the same exact experience. I don’t know how she can explain it any better. Why is this happening?
