Why don't total sales and payments match in my finance summary?

Today I noticed on m Finances Summary, the Total Sales (Net Sales plus taxes) doesn’t equal the Total Payments. It’s as though the Net Sales is missing sales and its taxes when compared to the cash and payments I received. This hasn’t happened before but I’m seeing it for yesterday, October 10, 2022.

I can manually figure it out, however, then the COGS isn’t correct because its based on the incorrect sales figure. Also, if this day doesn’t get corrected in Shopify, the numbers for my total month will be incorrect.

Anyone else seeing this and have any thoughts on fixing the shopify numbers? Or Shopfiy, please let me know how to get this fixed.

Hello, @SamAceti .

Our developers are aware of this discrepancy within Shopify Analytics, and are working to resolve it. I don’t have an estimated time for a fix, but you can expect the data to be corrected. There is no action required on your part in the meantime. I hope we’re able to resolve this for you soon! I appreciate your patience while we investigate.

Hi @Sophia ,

My accountant needs to understand what kind of adjustment he needs to make to reconcile total sales and total payments discrepancies. Can the developers provide any hints as to what could be happening here? Does it have to do with refunds of past orders? Thanks! - Matias

Hi,

Any update here?

No, this is still not resolved. I think it has something to do with the Item Returns vs Payment Refunds mismatch, but I’m not entirely sure. My understanding is that a refund could occur separate from a return, so you get different numbers there. That said, if I recall correctly, there were other things that could impact this difference, so I would love to get some insight into the accounting behind this.
