Why is Google Merchant Centre not recognizing my GTIN?

In google merchant centre I am getting product issues. - Limited performance due to missing identifiers [gtin, mpn, brand]. All products have the brand identied and mpd. I have uploaded an app into my shopify store where it auto generates a gtin for each product and adds it to the product automatically. I don’t understand why google is still giving this error ? Can anyone help please?

You can not auto generate barcodes, ie GTIN. This will be a violation.

The rule is as followed.

If you are a manufacturer, you can assign official GS1 barcodes, bought from an official GS1 vendor.

If you are not a manufacturer, you are not allowed to buy GS1 barcodes.

In both scenarios, you are not allowed to use unofficial or pre-used barcodes.

If the manufacturer has not assigned barcodes, then remove brand and MPN values. And definitely remove the barcodes if assigned.

However if the manufacturer has MPN you can submit Brand + MPN

Also do not use SKU values as your MPN, they are completely different.

Hey @Tally14

In addition to what Emmanuel said, it’s possible that you’re missing the GTIN in your structured data which is also required. Merchant Center will validate your product feed with your website. One part of that matching is checking the structured data for the product price, availability, URL, and product identifiers (SKU, MPN, GTIN).

Feel free to contact me at support@ilanadavis.com with your store URL and I can do a free structured data audit to see if JSON-LD for SEO can help, or if your theme already included the data you need.

Thank you Emmanuel. I am going to try just Brand and MPN.
