Why is it so difficult to add MPN numbers to our listings?

Why can’t we just have A Simple box to enter MPN(manufacturer part numbers) on our listings??? I don’t get it, what’s so hard about it? Manage products in the Google app freezes up after you do a couple hundred listings, CSV isn’t any easier than the merchant center because you still have to enter everything in one at a time. What is the problem??? Is it really that hard just to add another box to our listings? I am begging you, please just give us A simple way to add MPN’s to our listings. Some of us can’t get google to show our listings without it because we do not have GTIN, UPC’s or whatever. WE NEED A EASY WAY TO ADD MPN NUMBERS!!!

Not ‘shop performance’ related , that is about things like webpage loading speed.

There are millions of merchants and not all them use MPNs etc.

Use metafield definitions for custom data needs.

For platform to platform integration apps like google shopping channel etc make a formal feature request to shopify support about needing a way to pass required data.

I agree, it’s a basic value that a lot of products have. Not sure why Shopify does not add a standard attribute.

So, the reply I am giving you is only to help you resolve the issue, I can’t do anything about Shopify’s interal workings.

The easiest in my opinion if manually editing in Shopify is not suitable for you is to add a supplement feed in Google Merchant Center, with the id column and the MPN column.

That is the only alternative. I have been in eCommerce for 14+ years, so my technique or shall I say method of working, is resolving issues for my clients. So in this case that is my suggestion to resolve the issue. IE: end result is having MPNs

I’m sorry but no, that is not A very acceptable answer, I pay $150+ a month with Apps to have A Website that is useless if Google doesn’t index my Listings. Or I have to spend Hour’s and Hour’s Adding MPN’s 1 at A time on thousands of variations to the Merchant Center when someone at Shopify could spend 10 minutes, write some Code and fix the problem…I know for A fact that this is a Problem because I’ve read numerous posts where people are having A hard Time fixing this issue. I know this matters because sales have gone up on the few listing I’ve had Time to Fix. I repeat, My Website is useless if Google doesn’t index it. So my only choice is Quit Shopify, or spend A huge chunk of my time Adding MPN’s one by one on thousands of listings and Variations. Thanks For Nothing…

Of course it’s not acceptable, it’s how it is until there’s native support.

If shopifys google integration is hindering your business enough to quit the platform make sure their support knows how bad this integration affects the business.

Don’t do this manually , follow @EmmanuelFlossie 's advice and build a supplement feed system. This is a business data processing problem, if you already have the data find the tools and methods needed to automate the process because it will not be the last time data handling is a problem for any online business.
