Why is my email not working after transferring from Squarespace to Shopify?

Just transferred from Squarespace to Shopify and now my email going to my Google workspace is not working from Shopify. I can send emails from my personal account and they will show up in Gmail but nothing from Shopify.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi, @Krakenkandle

Thanks for posting. I hope your day is going well!

I understand you’re no longer receiving Gmail after transferring from Squarespace to Shopify. Did you transfer your domain from Squarespace to Shopify? If not, who is the domain host?

If you transferred your domain, you will not be able to receive e-mail until the domain transfer is complete and you re-establish the MX records to point to Google again. You can refer to this help guide from Google on how to re-establish your MX records.

In the meantime, since you’re new to the platform, make sure to utilize our Launch Checklist to ensure you don’t miss a step.

Hi,
Yes I transferred our domain to shopify. Set up all the MX to google. We
did a test sale and the website sent a message to the buyer and sent an
email confirming a sale. It seems like everything works except the contact
form email and the subscribe email form.

When I go to where I can change the website email it says unverified but
when I click the send verification email nothing arrives in gmail.

Hope this makes sense. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Mike

Hi, @Krakenkandle

Thanks for the context!

To make sure I understand correctly, your Shopify is sending emails but your Gmail is not receiving emails?

If so, Shopify doesn’t use your email to send order notifications. It will populate your email to the customer, but it’s actually sent from our servers.

Is this email associated to your domain? For example, email@yourdomain.com? If so, that is the issue. The email you use for your domain should be a generic email such as @hotmail.com or @gmail.com as you can’t verify a domain, if the verification email is being sent to an unverified domain email address.

To change this, head to your Admin and select Settings > Domains then select the domain to be edited. There will be a drop down menu named Domain settings and select Edit contact information. Here you will input an email address that isn’t associated to your domain.

I hope that helps!
