Why is my website showing a 403 forbidden code after pointing to a new domain?

I pointed my existing website to my shopify domain… no biggie, I thought. It showed up for about 5 minutes, just long enough for me to search and make sure site was acting the same on shopify as it does on stand alone host…

But as soon as I made the shopify public… my website can’t be pulled up? I get a 403 FORBIDDEN code? So I clean out my browsing history cache and cookies… and now I have a “default” DAWN storefront when I click on my shopify domain… instead of my redirected website. WTF is going on?

It says SSL certificate pending… which I know can take about 24 hours… and my site is already SSL compliant so I’m at a loss and have not been able to find a direct source for shopify help… So I am bringing this heap of a problem to you all. My free trial ends in 11 days… and thus far… not too impressed! Any ideas,

Hi @tickledp

Thank you for sharing that information about what happened when you tried to connect your domain to your online store.

This is definitely a unique situation, especially if you are not seeing the correct storefront after connecting your domain. One possible cause of this could be that a store that is no longer in use had the domain connected to it before the domain license expired. Meaning that the domain is connected to Shopify, but currently pointing at a store other than your own. This is something our live support can easily resolve for you if that is the case.

I would recommend having a screenshot of your domain host admin as proof of ownership for the domain and a screenshot of your DNS configuration as well. Once you have those, you can contact our live support through this link: Shopify Help Center - Contact Support.
