Why isn't my featured collection showing products on home page?

I’m having a problem with viewing my products. I set up a featured collection on my home page with the theme Flow but when you click on it, it takes me to a blank page where the product and description should be. How can I fix this?

Hi @DramaticHair ,

Please send your site and if your site is password protected, please send me the password. I will check it.

Thank you @LitExtension here is the site!

Hi @DramaticHair ,

Please send me the code of templates > product.liquid file. I will check it.

Hey, @DramaticHair

Thank you for posting your concern in our Community forums. I’m more than happy to look into this with you.

Thanks for sharing that context with me. May I ask if you’ve linked the collection within your navigation settings? Once you create your collection, you will need to add it to your navigation settings for it to appear on your storefront. If your collection has already been created but is not displaying on your store, I suggest ensuring that you have added it to your navigation. To do so, you can follow these steps here:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Navigation.
  2. On the Navigation page, click the title of the menu that you want to edit.
  3. Click Add menu item.
  4. Enter a name for the menu item. The name displays in the menu, and can include special characters or characters or emoji.
  5. Click the Link field, and then select the link type (in this case, collections).
  6. Once you have selected a collection or all collections, then you can filter the collection with tags to display only the products that match all of the tags you enter.
  7. Once you select your link type, then select a specific destination.
  8. When you select “Home”, the destination is automatically set to your online store’s home page.
  9. Click Add to save your menu item.
  10. Click Save menu.

We also have a great video guide that you can check out here. It’s also important to ensure that your products are set to be avaliable for your online store.

Please ensure that the above is set up as expected. Let me know how that goes! In the meantime, I’d love to hear more about your business. What type of products will you be selling?

Hi @LitExtension I found a password.liquid but it is blank with no code.

Hey @Luna_1 I have tried that and it still appears the same way. I went to the collections option under the product drop down and it does say to add this collection to your online stores navigation you need to update your menu.

Hey, @DramaticHair .

Thanks for getting back to me with that context. It sounds like you’re hoping to link a collection from your existing menu, is that right? Can you please try updating your menu by following these steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Navigation.
  2. On the Navigation page, click the name of the menu that you want to add the link to.
  3. In the Menu items section, click Add menu item.
  4. In the Name field, enter the name of the collection. This will be displayed to customers.
  5. In the Link list, select Collection, and then select the collection that you’re adding a link for.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click Save menu.

For more information, check out: Editing menus. Please give that a shot and let me know how it goes. If you’re still facing setbacks, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can access your account to take a closer look. To do so, please visit our Help Center. Once you log in to your account you can create a support request through live chat, email, or callback. To do so, type your request in ‘Ask about a topic’, scroll down to ‘Get Support’, and then click ‘Continue.’ From there, you can submit your request to speak with an advisor.

Talk soon,

Thank you @Luna_1 I have tried the steps but I’m still getting the blank page. If you visit the website maybe you’ll get more of an idea of what I’m referring to. The same thing happens when a I visit the catalog page. You can view the product but not the details or variants added when I originally set up the products.

Hi @DramaticHair ,

Not password.liquid file, it’s templates > product.liquid file

Hi @LitExtension sorry I meant product.liquid It is blank.

Hi @DramaticHair ,

Yes, because it’s blank, so when you go to the product page, nothing will be displayed.

You can go back to the previous version with the following, then save it, everything will look fine. Refer https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/theme-structure/extend/edit-theme-code#roll-back-to-an-older-version-of-your-theme

If it helped you solve your issue, please mark it as a solution. Thank you and good luck.

Hi @LitExtension I do see that but when I click older version the only options are current or cancel which just takes me back to the same thing

Hi @DramaticHair ,

After you revert to the previous version, you need to save it.

Hope it helps!

@LitExtension What I am trying to say is there is no previous version saved. It only allows me to select current which makes no changes and cannot be saved. Would there be another way to restore the coding?

Hi @DramaticHair ,

If so, you still have the first version of the theme saved, you can unzip it and check the file.

Or you need to contact the theme directly for support because it will be difficult for someone else to help you add the code here.

Each theme will support different codes so this is not possible for anyone without a current version of your theme.

Hope it helps!
