Your shop is missing PayPal as a payment method - but it's not missing

Facebook & Instagram keeps saying “Your shop is missing PayPal as a payment method”, but when I go to my store Settings → Payments → Additional Payment Methods, there is PayPal, set as “Active”. How do I fix this?

Hi, @Shounteal .

Thank you for reaching out!

Can you please share a screenshot of the error you are receiving in Facebook and Instagram? Once I see the error I can dig deeper into this for you.

Please let me know if you have any further questions! I would love to learn more about your business. What type of products do you sell?

Talk soon,

This is the error I see on my shopify page.

Yet when I go to payments, I see this, showing it as active:

It stinks when the Shopify Staff asks you for info, you provide it, and they ghost you.

Fortunatley, I did figure this out. Unfortunately, I forgot how I figured it out. What it came down to was that the “Settings → Payments → Additional Payment Methods” was NOT where Paypal needed to be. There is another spot in the admin side of things you need to connect it to in order for it to work correctly.

It may have been under Settings → Apps and sales channels → Facebook & Instagram. I am not 100% sure on this, but I just kept clicking around inside the admin and eventually I found a spot that also allowed you to connect Paypal, and once I did that, it just worked and the error message went away.

I had the same issue

If you go under sales channels to facebook/instagram , there should be a popup that prompts you to connect paypal.

replying to myself. Apologies the above was only a partial answer - here is the full answer - see screenshots.

Once you go to Saleschannels>facebook/instagram> you need to click on SETTINGS at the top (which is barely visible) > then click connect paypal.

Here is the answer. It’s wild we have to figure out all these things ourselves. What does customer service do?

Thanks for posting this and figuring it out for us. Nice customer service Shopify. Luckily we actually care about helping one another at least!

Fixed it for me!

Emily - why did you bother to ask for information if you didn’t (appear to) intend to do anything about it? I don’t mind the friendly “want to know more about you”, but I was here because of an issue with the platform and looking for help. It seems to be a thing with many of these feeds where there is either no help at all, or ghosted by staff and left hanging. It’s discouraging to say the least.
