17% ATC, 9.01% Initiate, but only 0.60% convert

Hi all,

I am really lost as to how my add to cart and initiate checkout percentages are incredible yet my conversion rate is horrendous - especially since I have free shipping. The image I am attaching is from the past 8/9 days and yesterday bumped up my conversion rate from an average of 0.47% (I had a 1.23% conversion rate yesterday, but I’m not sure if this rate was a one off thing). The bump may be because I decided to try including taxes, so both taxes AND shipping are included, but only one state gets charged so it shouldn’t have been a massive deterrent. Note* I am getting all traffic organically, so that could part of the reason, but I don’t believe it explains that massive of a drop-off - like why would so many people initiate checkout without the intent of purchasing…

I know it’s not a problem with my website/landing page as many people are adding to cart and reaching checkout, so I’m confused as to what it may be. I tried hiding the “express checkout” buttons but it didn’t work - I even hired a developer and he was unsuccessful.

Does anyone know what may be happening? Any insight, help, or advice would be greatly appreciated and would mean a lot. Thank you so much, have a great day :slightly_smiling_face:

I recommend you follow every step of the customer journey, one common reason for a low conversion rate is that people don’t like what they see when they land on your site. A good landing page will always increase the time person would spend on the web site.
