Anyone else unable to access their online store on an old Macbook?

Anyone else have this issue?

I own a 10year old Macbook (can’t afford a new one for now), I can’t make any major updates on it.

I use Firefox and can’t update to the most recent version. Chrome doesn’t work on my computer.

Been running my shop for almost two years now without any problems.

But today I can’t even access my shopify.

I always get an error message suggesting i use Chrome.

How about other browsers? I currently use Vivaldi, Opera, Brave, and Edge to update and manage my stores. I hope that if you test some of them, they can work

Hi, @Lililesfleurs !

I understand this is frustrating.

Shopify is constantly evolving and developing, which is why you will find that older OS and browsers no longer support the current version.

Shopify is optimised for Google Chrome, and as Chrome evolved, Shopify did too - which is why the newest version of the browser is asked for.

That said, I understand that your desktop device is out of date, - are you having the same issue with mobile?

Shopify does have a mobile app, as well as you being able to access it via mobile browser - so let me know if this works for you!

Hi Lana, thanks for getting back to me.
i do have the same problem on mobile.
i’ve tried using different browsers like safari, firefox, duckduck, etc and it still won’t work.
can’t do any major updates for now either.
as of now i can’t access my shop - but am still paying for it, that’s a weird exchange of services, ;-).

Hi Victor!
thanks for the suggestion. i have tried to download opera and it does not work. tried with safari, same problems.
will take a look at the other ones you suggested, but my hopes are very low.
i need a new computer, that’s for sure!

Are you by chance using Verizon for Internet and cellular service? They have blocked one of Shopify’s IP addresses. I posted about it here.

Lana, I don’t know if the same issue is going on here, but yesterday Verizon began blocking websites using the 23.227.38.65 IP address, a link to my post about this is below. This is likely affecting A LOT of your customers, however, when I contacted your customer service through the chat, I was told that everything is fine on Shopify’s end and that I needed to contact Verizon, even though my site isn’t the only one affected.

Since this is a serious issue for Shopify and a large portion of your customers, it would be great if someone from Shopify could work with Verizon to get this resolved ASAP. Is it possible for you to escalate this issue?
