I’m testing the use case where customer is not logged in during the checkout process but they use an email address where they have a customer record. It looks like the order is automatically associated to the customer account. Is it a desired behavior?
I’m under a development plan so I wonder if it’s the same with a Basic Shopify / Shopify plan.
Yes, you are right. If the customer account is already there but not logged in and if the purchase is done with the same email address then Shopify will associate the purchase to the customer account.
You can look it the other way like all the purchase orders are linked to an email address even if the email address was used in checkout or for signing up. Hope that makes sense.
