I am creating a website for a skincare Brand using the BEYOND theme (currently in the test mode).
I want to create pages for collections and add products to each. All pages have the same theme template “default page”, which cannot be changed or modified.
The problem is that when I add a text, an image, or anything to one page, it is duplicated on all pages. Pages have different names, but the content is the same.
What do you mean by “Alternate Template” ? The link you sent doesn’t work.
I created a new template, but I cannot assign it to any page. The page takes automatically the “default page” template.
I have like 20 pages (each is related to a collection). Each page/collection has a template assigned to it randomly, and I cannot change it. It’s so weird.
The pages, which have the same template, have duplicated content. If I change the content (text, image…) on one page, it changes on the other page.
Thank you for the link, but it tell us just how to customize the Home Page, which I already did.
I need to be able to do the same for the all the other pages, but it’s impossible. All the other pages look the same as each other. The have the “Default Page” theme, which is an empty page. If I add content to it, the content is added to all page, except the Home page. It’s like all page are alike, and creating new templates changes nothing.
I have one week to do the website ; there is a lot of work to do. I guess I will go with another platform than Shopify if this thing is not solved today. It’s too complicated.
YOU NEED TO PUBLISH THE STORE WHICH YOU ARE TRYING TO ASSIGN A NEW TEMPLATE ON.
To create different templates for pages, products or collections:
Firstly you need to create page templates when you are customizing online store (dropdown menu at the top → Select Collections, Products or Pages → Create Template.
Secondly you need to create a collection, product or page on Shopify Home. (Products & Collections are found under the products tab. Pages are found on the Online Store tab)
You need to assign the template created in 1. to your new product/collection/page from 2. by going into the latter and near the bottom right it will have a dropdown to select the theme template.
IF there’s only the option for default theme, then either you didn’t succesfully create a new template, OR you need to PUBLISH the current store you are working on. If you don’t publish this store then you templates will be based on the current active store publish - probably just default theme.
It helped! I had the same problem with another free theme (Craft). I found other solutions before but they included coding which is not an option for people like me who don’t understand code. I followed these exact steps and it worked, thank you very much.
P.S. Probably this instruction will be even better if someone added screenshots to it. Hope there will be a kind person who will do it and who is not as lazy as me
