Has anyone figured out how to block all the bots sending fake visitors to the website everyday? At anytime we have dozens of “visitors” from Pakistan, India and other countries and it’s throwing off our metrics and just annoying in general. Thought Shopify would figure this out by now but I guess not…
We had a similar issue. Used an app like this https://apps.shopify.com/easy-block-customer-ip-country?search_id=a669a78a-9c72-4304-8408-219df359d7d1&surface_detail=geo+block&surface_inter_position=1&surface_intra_position=5&surface_type=search if they really want to get around it they can but for bot type attacks should stop it quickly.

The reason behind the increase in the volume of traffic can be spam backlinks from a website famous in these regions. These backlinks might increase the traffic on the website, but as they have no relevance to the context of your website, they might increase the bounce rate of your website.
You can use Google Analytics, to determine which channel is generating the traffic on the website.
After determining the source, you can disavow the backlinks that are generating unnecessary traffic for the website. Disavow discounts the value of the inbound link and over time reduces the amount of traffic directed from that link.
