I am trying to run a simple Buy X Get Y type of discount code with Shopify’s Discount Code feature.
So, Buy one of our subscription products (we have 2, a quarterly and an annual) and get a free merch product (a glass).
The Subscription App we are using is Bold Subscriptions.
I reached out to Bold first and they said it had to be something on the Shopify side.
The Buy X Get Y type of discount code is throwing this error when applying the code in the checkout:
discount code isn’t valid for the items in your cart.
I tried using a merch product (one of our hats) as the Buy X product instead of one of the Subscription products and the discount code worked fine.
That helps me narrow it down to the fact that is may just be the type of Buy X product I am using.
What could be the issue with using a Subscription based product versus a regular product with the discount code?
