Why is my 'Pay X, get Y' discount code not working in checkout?

Hi there,

I’m trying creating a discount code with the ‘Pay X, get Y’ feature - directly from the discount section of Shopify.

However, it doesn’t work: When I add the discount code to the checkout, it tells me that the discount code is not valid for the products in the cart.

I’ve double-checked 1000 times and I’m sure the products are the ones I used for setting up the promotion.

Has anyone had the same issue and could help me solve it?

Hi @SendoC ,

The Buy X, Get Y discount will require all products to be added to the cart in order to apply as expected. Please ensure both items (Buy X, Get Y) are included in the cart at checkout, prior to adding the discount code. You can refer to this Creating Discount Codes document for more information.

Hi Avada, Thanks for your help, I understand now and could solve it.

Could I ask you if you know any Shopify app that allows making that kind of promotion (buy X and get Y for free) without the need of adding a discount code and having the gifted products automatically added to the cart?

BOGO discount will require all products to be added to the cart in order to apply as expected. Make sure that both items (Buy X, Get Y) are included in the cart at checkout.

Also by using a third party app for discount field with many feature will helps to increase your store sales.
