A user is frustrated that their collections list doesn’t maintain alphabetical title sorting by default. Each time they access the list, they must manually click “title” to reorder it alphabetically.
The user questions the utility of the current default ordering (shown in their first screenshot) and strongly prefers alphabetical sorting by title (shown in their second screenshot).
Key request: They want either:
The issue remains unresolved with no responses yet addressing whether this sorting preference can be saved or changed in settings.
Every time I go to my collections list, I have to click on “title” again, to order them correctly.
I cannot fathom why anyone would want them listed any other way, but I am very new at this so what do I know?
Never-the-less, is there a way to make “title” the default, or at least to have it stay on “title” until I choose something else?

II saw your question and completely understand the frustration — having to click Title every time to sort collections can definitely slow down your workflow.
Currently, Shopify’s admin doesn’t save the sort preference for the Collections list, so it reverts to the default system sorting each time. As of now, there’s no built-in setting to make “Title” the permanent default view.
However, a couple of tips that may help your workflow:
Use “Search collections” at the top when looking for a specific collection — this sometimes feels faster than re-sorting.
Bookmark the Collections page after sorting (some users find that their browser occasionally preserves that state when returning — not guaranteed, but worth trying)
If you manage a large number of collections, Shopify apps like Ablestar Bulk Editor or Matrixify can give more advanced workspace control and bulk organization options.
I agree — having Shopify remember the sort setting would be a practical improvement. Hopefully we’ll see this feature added in a future update
