The new Markets have apparently been rolled out but appear to be full of strange limitations and wrong fixed settings.
One of my projects is a small shop where I sell my ceramics artwork. I am located in Denmark but sell globally. So the shop is set up in Euro and all texts are in English.
This is actually not a very strange solution. In fact, it makes very good sense from both a user, marketing and administrative point of view.
Now that Markets have been forced on me the primary market have been set to Germany! According to the Shopify supporter i just had a chat with that can only be changed if I change the currency. But that would not serve my market the best. As my customers are global Euro is off course much better. But that apparently mean I am forced to be German by Shopify. That is ridiculous.
To begin with I would very much like an option to just disable Markets. Did any of you find a way to do that?
Next, if I ever decide to use Markets, I would need a way to set the standard market myself. It should NOT be set, and fixed, by Shopify as they apparently have very little understanding of how we run global shops.
But so far it does not look like I will be using Markets. There are too many other limitations that makes it impossible to use they way I want - and that I know works best for users as well as SEO.
