Hey,
I have a store with multiple collaborators all selling items.
I was wondering if there was a way to set the Shopify new order notification emails based off a Product tag on the items… for example if tag has “Seller 1” or “Seller 2” it would only notify the associated seller rather than everyone.
Or if there was a way to do it based off Vendor.
Thanks!
By default you can’t segment certain conditions for certain staff members, but you can use Order Automator app to achieve this.
Here’s how:
-
Create an order tag rule in the Order Automator app to identify the condition you want (vendor = “Vendor A”, order has a product tagged “Some Tag”, etc).
-
Click the email icon to enable a notification for orders meeting that condition.
-
Add the email address of the person you want to notify.
-
They’ll now get notifications with the order information when those specific orders come through.
If you create the tag rule based on vendor, you can also make it so they only see the line items that match that vendor (for example if there are multiple items from multiple vendors and you only want to send the products for that vendor).
My team built this app, so if you have any questions, requests, or need help just reach out.
Does anyone have a solution without an app you have to pay for.
Such a bummer every time you ask a question in here someone responds with a way to do it with an app.

@aliboulala there’s not a way to do this without an app because Shopify doesn’t have the native functionality to achieve it. You can go to Settings > Notifications in your Shopify admin to see your available options (reference for more info: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/orders/notifications).
Sorry my comment bummed you out, I recommend solutions of all sorts in the forums (recommend free + paid apps, share solutions that require code, how to do stuff, etc), not trying to pitch anything random here, just giving you the solution to a problem you’re having with your business.
Seems you’ve had a bad experience with apps in the past, so I’d like to offer another view point: The free way to do things (in this case read orders and send emails) is manually sending the emails, but technology can save you money (time or staff) by automating tasks. Technology (whether Shopify features or apps) are built by people with years of invested experience learning to code and built secure, efficient, systems, and these apps run on servers 24/7, they cost money and lots of time to develop.
Just thought of a possible free way to do it if you want to go appless - you could set up email filters (I know gmail has this) where if the email contains certain keywords, then forward that email to the vendor. Then set up a filter for each vendor. As long as it’s cool for them to see the full contents of the email this solution should work for you.

Thank you, I do appreciate your reply and suggestion.
Was just hoping for a miracle I guess.
