Can you transfer store ownership without sharing sales history?

Hi, I would like to know when you transfer ownership of store to another person do they get all the sales and financial history eg sales and payments data? And if so is there a way to transfer store without that?

  • Yes, when you transfer ownership of a Shopify store to another person, they will get access to all the sales and financial history of the store, including sales data and payment information.

However, you can limit the amount of information that is shared by creating a staff account for the new owner instead of transferring ownership. With a staff account, the new owner can manage the store and fulfill orders, but they won’t have access to all the historical data of the store.

To create a staff account, you can follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Shopify account and go to “Settings” > “Account”.
Under “Accounts and permissions”, click on “Add staff account”.
Fill in the new owner’s details and choose the permissions you want to give them.
    Click “Send invite”.
Once the new owner has accepted the staff account invitation, they can access the store and manage it, but they won’t have access to the store’s historical sales and financial data.

If you do decide to transfer ownership of the store, it’s important to make sure that you trust the new owner, as they will have access to sensitive information such as payment details and customer data. It’s also a good idea to create a backup of the store’s data before transferring ownership, just in case there are any issues during the transfer process.
