Shop Pay appears to be the default quick buy button payment method when activated.
Is there a way to change the default quick buy button payment method, or is disabling Shop Pay the only way to remove Shop Pay as the default quick buy button?
We would like the quick buy button to allow customers to make a purchase with minimal clicks and don’t believe Shop Pay offers the quickest payment option for most customers.
We are happy to accept Shop Pay but not for it to be displayed as the default payment method.
I was referring to the “Enable quick add button” but after checking I actually meant the dynamic checkout button.
The following seems to confirm that Shop Pay will override all other payment options regardless of the customers device or payment preferences:
The kind of dynamic checkout button that displays to your customers depends on the following factors:
your payment settings
whether Shop Promise is active, which will prioritize Shop Pay over other checkouts
the customer’s browser
the customer’s device
the customer’s personal payment history
For now it would appear that the only way to have the Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal options show on the dynamic checkout button is to disable Shop Pay.
The dynamic checkout will show three options to your customer depending on their history of checkout options used. Shop Pay will be showing as one of the 3 options but the other two will change depending on your customers preferred checkout option.
We still seem to be talking about different menus and buttons so I’ve included screenshots below for clarification and as requested.
You’ll notice that the PayPal button gets replaced by the Shop Pay button when Shop Pay is activated, and there is no visible alternative payment method button on the page.
Thanks for the screenshots @Poedagar ! The information Emily shared here is correct. The quick buy button, or sometimes called express checkout button, is a dynamic button that changes the payment option shown based on the customer’s past payment history and browser cookies. As you noted, if you have Shop Promise enabled on your store, then Shop Pay is a prioritized express checkout option. Shop Promise is optional, you can disable it any time through the settings in the Shop sales channel. Doing so would no longer prioritize Shop Pay as an express checkout option.
Thank you for your reply. The information Emily shared did not address the issue but her input was appreciated. As you’ve explained, disabling Shop Promise appears to be the solution and we will try this method. Thank you both for your assistance
Hello. I would also like to remove shop pay as my default option. When I go to shop promise, it says I’m not even eligible for it and thus it is not enabled. Yet, shop pay still seems to be my default purchase option in the dynamic pay button.
