Currently our Facebook & Instagram Shops simply link to the product on our Shopify website. However, as of April 24th, 2024 Meta is forcing using their “upgraded” checkout connected to Shopify Admin or shops will no longer be visible.
Our biggest concern at the moment is shipping rate parity. We use calculated shipping rates through Advanced Shipping Rules in Shopify. Combing through documentation and YouTube videos I still can’t get a clear view if those shipping rates will be pulled across to checkout on Instagram and Facebook or if we will have reconsider our shipping configuration in order to maintain parity.
- https://business.facebook.com/business/help/564000762124596 only talks about “You can still manage your orders, returns, payouts, and discounts in your Shopify admin.”
- https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/facebook-instagram-by-meta/requirements mentions setting a standard shipping option. But I don’t know if that includes calculated shipping or is just referencing flat shipping rates.
- https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/facebook-instagram-by-meta/checkout-methods#check-out-on-facebook-or-instagram notes “Carrier-calculated shipping rates aren’t available”, but we’re not using carrier calculated so much as a third party app. I don’t know if that is a nuanced distinction or not.
At time of writing we’re not quite willing to just make the change to see what happens so any insight would be much appreciated!
